Originating from South Africa, and after some years traveling via the UK, and Australia Genevieve finally found her way to Ireland. She’s been living in Cork for the past 18 years. She is a wife, mother, yoga instructor and doula.
It was when Genevieve was much younger that her yoga journey began when she was living in the UK. It didn’t have a deep enough effect on her in her younger years to continue. When she moved to Ireland, she attended classes with Charlie Stevens. He encouraged her to consider training as a yoga instructor.
In 2003 she trained as a yoga instructor in Cork with Marie Quail and Margaret Hardmen from the Yoga Therapy and Training Centre. It was through this course that she fell in love with pregnancy yoga.
She decided to deepen her understanding in this area and in 2004 she trained in London as a Perinatal Yoga instructor with Françoise Barbira Freedman and Uma Dinsmore Tuli through Birthlight.
She has taught in Ballincollig, Bishopstown and Douglas over the past 15 years, stopping for a time to start a family. It is with the experience of four pregnancies, four extremely different birthing experiences (one of them resulting in twins) and a love of all things mother, birth and babies that Genevieve comes to the Essential Wellness Centre to teach Pregnancy Yoga.
